What is the Community House like? The house has five bedrooms.
People have their own room which they can lock if they wish and there is a support worker in the house at all times.
Evening meals are prepared for everyone staying in the house. Food is available for breakfast and lunch which service users can prepare for themselves. Regular activities for Jerendine service users are held at the house.
Staff can use the Jerendine car to take people on day trips to the beach, bushwalking etc. or shorter trips to the movies or shopping centres.
Who is eligible to use this Program? Families eligible to use this service will live in the area SOUTH of the Brisbane River and the Redland Shire. The person with the psychiatric disability must be between 18-65 years old. We will provide an opportunity for members of the family to have a break from each other by planned short term breaks:
- In the family home.
- In Jerendine's community house
- Via outings and activities in the community.
This could be for a few hours each week or for several days at a time every few months allowing carers some time out!
How much does it cost? If you are staying at the Jerendine community house there is a small cost of $15 to cover food and other consumables.
If you are only using Jerendine for accessing community outings/activities, you will only have to pay for your own food and the cost of the activity. Donations are appreciated and are tax deductible.
