What is Coolibah House like? The house encourages a warm welcoming ‘guest house’ like atmosphere designed to help individuals relax and enjoy themselves. There are five guest bedrooms each individually decorated and with its own small fridge. Trained non-clinical support staff are available to help you make the most of your stay.
Coolibah House is only a short walk from Lutwyche shopping centre and public transport.
Staff may use the vehicles attached to Coolibah House to take people out on day trips, to the movies, shopping centre or other short outings. Evening meals are prepared for everyone at the house, with breakfast and lunch being more flexible – people can either prepare their own meals or gain assistance from staff.
The house features a special relaxation room that has comfortable chairs, aroma therapy scents, a CD player, a small library dedicated to personal journeys of recovery, inspirational poems and artwork.
Who is eligible to use the Program? Families eligible to use this service will live in the area NORTH of the BRISBANE RIVER. The person with the psychiatric disability must be between 18 and 65 years old.
How Much does it Cost? Guests at Coolibah House are asked to contribute $15 a day to cover food and living expenses. If you are gaining support of the Coolibah support staff to access community outings and activities, you only need to pay for your own costs associated with those activities.
Donations are appreciated, and will be used to facilitate ongoing work of ARAFMI Queensland Inc. Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
We encourage families to register with the service in order to organise Planned short term breaks or emergency support in the event of unforeseen circumstances that may impact on families and individuals eg Ill health of primary care given.
Respite Support offered by Coolibah Family Support Program includes support in the family home; taking a break by staying at Coolibah House and participating in activities and outings in the community. Respite Support could include a few hours each week or several days at a time - depending on the family's needs.
To register, contact the Program Manager, Fiona on (07) 3857 0377 who will arrange to meet you and discuss your needs. |
