What is Coolibah House like?

The house has a warm welcoming ‘guest house’ like atmosphere designed to help individuals relax and enjoy themselves. There are five guest bedrooms each individually decorated and with its own small fridge.

The house features a number of common areas where you can enjoy reading, listening to music, doing art and craft, playing pool or table tennis, watching TV or playing computer games on the WII or play station.

Situated at the end of a quite no through road guests have the opportunity to relax in the peaceful garden setting or enjoy the 5 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Lutwyche shopping centre. From here guest can also access quick and easy public transport to the gigantic Chermside shopping and movie complex or catch the bus to the city centre for a great day out.

Trained non-clinical support staff are in the house at all times and there are a number of planned activities to help you make the most of your stay.

Evening meals are prepared for everyone at the house. Breakfast and lunch are more flexible – people can either prepare their own meals or gain assistance from staff.

Who is eligible to use the Program?

Families eligible to use this service will live in the  area  BRISBANE AREA. Respite support is available 52 weeks per year. The person with the psychiatric disability must be between 18 and 65 years old.

How Much does it Cost?

Guests at Coolibah House are asked to contribute $20 a day to cover food and living expenses.

If you are using Coolibah support staff to access community outings and activities, you only need to pay for your own costs associated with those activities.

We encourage families to register with the service in order to organise planned short term breaks or emergency support in the event of unforeseen circumstances that may impact on families and individuals e.g. Ill health of primary care giver.
