Respite Programs
Caring for the well-being of families living with mental health issues
Arafmi’s Respite and Family Support Programs provide both in-home and away-from-home support for families in which a member has a major mental illness and a psychiatric disability.
The objectives of the Family Support Programs are to:
• Increase the viability of the family unit by providing breaks in which to 'recharge the batteries'.
• Increase community inclusiveness and independence for the person with a mental health issue.
• To break down the isolation of the family.
Respite Support offered by Arafmi includes support in the family home; taking a break by staying at one of the Respite Programs and participating in activities and outings in the community.
Respite Support could include a few hours each week or several days at a time - depending on individual needs.
